Johnny built up almost 15 years of experience working at companies such as Everite and Clotan Steel. At Everite he had his own training center where he provided training on the installation of Nutec products. He also presented numerous training courses all over the country, along with John Barnard from SASFA on SANS 517. He called on architects, presented workshops at universities and retail outlets such as hardware stores. Other responsibilities included installation inspections; handling client complaints; and onsite training for contractors.

At Clotan Steel Johnny was the Drawing Office Manager, involved with the Roll Forming of the Light Steel Frame structures for houses and facades. He garnered ample experience in FrameCAD and Detailer.

With the experience gained Johnny started Light Steel Frame Cladding Consultants in April 2016. Initially the focus was only Light Steel Frame sheds, similar to the traditional Wendy Houses. Instead of using timber, the structure is Light Steel Frame cladded with Nutec boards, providing better longevity and requiring lower maintenance, due to superior strength and durability compared to timber.

God, however, had bigger plans for the company. Though starting small, the company soon grew to become a strong competitor to its biggest rivals.
